8/26/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:

  • A family from New Jersey was having their picture taken in Madison when someone stole their bag containing their wallet, credit cards and ID. Fortunately, the thief was clearly shown doing the deed in the picture. They showed it to the cops who recognized the thief and picked him up. The thief claims the bag was abandoned.
  • The Philadelphia Cupcake Lady, who sells cupcakes from a retired postal vehicle had her truck apprehended...by the cops. She claims it was the licenses and inspections people and the cops say it was the parking divisio, n. No matter, she recovered the truck for $200 and plans on taking it to the streets again soon.
  • The backpack you choose for your child goes a long way to determining whether or not they will have back problems later in life. Here are some quick tips on how to choose the right one.
  • WEB BONUS MATERIAL: For what it's worth (and it sure isn't worth much) today marks my 31st year in broadcasting. And they said I wouldn't last!

8/25/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:

8/24/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:

  • More people are watching TV when they want to watch it. In a recent survey, over 40 percent of Americans have watched a show using "on demand" or their DVR. For those of you who get up early like I do, you know those 9pm programs (and sometimes the 8pm ones) are very difficult to watch live. The other great thing about having a DVR (we own two) is you can record two shows at the same time so you can eventually watch both of them. In fact, during the summer, there are six shows I tape on Tuesday night. If you want to guess which ones they are, send me an e-mail with your guess.
  • Triple A Auto reports less te, ens are texting while driving. This is great news. Now if we could only get the adults to stop texting while driving. And talking on the phone in the check out line.
  • Ever send an e-mail you wish you hadn't sent? G-Mail can take care of that.

8/23/10-WEB BONUS MATERIAL-You know how some people yell at the TV during sporting events? I found myself yelling at the TV during a cooking show today. There was a woman preparing a dish which started off with her sweating onions in a skillet (cooking them down). EVERY SHOW on the Food Network from Giada to Rachael to Sandra Lee tells you when you sweat onions to add some Kosher Salt to draw the moisture out of the onions (which is very important) and to season the onions. As Emeril says "I don't know where you get your onions, but where I get mine they don't come seasoned." Apparently they don't do it that way on PBS. And, for some reason, I was moved to yell at the woman on TV "add some salt! Where's the salt? It will taste like crap if you don't add salt, lady! Geeze lady, you're killing me." I have either drank too much Food Network kool-aid or need a vacation.

8/23/10-Here's what we ta, lked about this morning:

  • It's an Emmy for Betty White! In an effort to speed up the Primetime Emmy show (which will air live Sunday night on NBC) several Emmys are given out,in a ceremony prior to the big event. Betty White has won her sixth career award, this one for hosting Saturday Night Live in May.
  • Ever wonder what's really in that prop note a TV actor is reading? in an episode of "Leave It To Beaver", Ward Cleaver received a note from The Beav's principal which cited Beaver for bad behavior. Here is the actual contents.
  • Economic times are tough for everyone, including big money CEO's, some of whom have had to take a pay cut. Don't weep for them too hard, I'm sure they'll all make their yacht payments just fine.

8/21/10-WEB EXCLUSIVE MATERIAL: Boy, did I get annoyed today. I went to get one lousy item at an office supply store and unfortunately got stuck behind a woman purchasing $286 worth of items. If that wasn't bad enough, the woman got a cell phone call in the middle of checking out. Please, if someone calls you in the checkout line, don't answer it unless someone you know is on death watch. Or better yet,do what I do and leave your cell phone in the car!

8/20/10-Here's what w, e talked about this morning:
  • I've become pretty annoyed with Internet search engines lately. In order to find web sites, you have , to wade through the pages that people pay Google or Yahoo to see, rather than finding one at the top of the list that will actually help you. And now, some of those pages may bring you some real grief. Searching for Cameron Diaz, Julia Roberts or Jessica Biel could put you in contact with pages that will put a virus in your computer.
  • If you went to the Wisconsin State Fair, you probably enjoyed the food. Here's some other state fair food that other states are featuring. Just looking at this list makes my cholesterol go up.
  • A new British study suggests that listening to sports on your car radio is as dangerous as drunk driving.&n, bsp; That's because people get so int, o the games they forget they are driving a car. Funny, I don't recall ball games being on at 4am.
8/19/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:
  • Good Grief! ABC has renewed their agreement to play Charlie Brown specials for the next five years. This is great news for all of us who grew up with Charlie Brown and want to share it with our kids and (in some cases) grand kids. The agreement did cost ABC a lot of money, including a huge rais, e , for Lucy who claimed she was sick of working for Peanuts.
  • A man was ticketed by Saukville police after losing his cool in a grocery store checkout line. The woman in front of him got permission from the cashier to check out, even though it was the ten items or less line and even though she had a lot more than ten items. When the woman asked the seething man behind her if he had an issue, he said "Yes, your ugly and fat!" He continued to bother the woman until police were called and was fined $429 dollars. The moral of the story? Don't think out loud.
  • New York City is now the home of the first Pop Tars cafe.
8/18/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:
  • An Illinois town wants to ban eye rolling and enforce a penalty on doing it to someone in public. , If I lived there, they'd probably give me the electric chair.
  • As if driving a car in traffic isn't difficult enough, a man in the Milwaukee suburb of Brookfield was pulled over for changing his clothes while driving. Police warned the man about indecent exposure and let him off, with a slap on the...um, wrist.
  • There's a new family practice clinic opening September 7th in Plymouth and this morning Dr. Jeff Corrigan joined us for a few minutes to tell us about what they will offer.

8/12/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:

8/11/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:

  • A woman visiting Epcot Center in Florida claims a Disney employee groped her. The employees name? Donald Duck. Good thing for him that Daisey Duck runs HR.
  • Former Jet Blue flight attendant Steven Slater is out of the crossbar Hilton after posting $2,500 bail.
  • Corynn from St. Nicholas Hos, pital told us that reducing the, size of your child's backpack will help reduce the chances of back and shoulder injuries later in life.

8/10/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:

  • A woman called police to tell them a man had broken into her house. The police found him...he was asleep on her couch...naked.
  • A Jet Blue steward lost it when a woman got up early from her seat to get her luggage out of the overhead bin, then swore at him as he tried to get her to sit back down. The steamin, g Stew grabbed the microphone, cussed out the passengers, grabbed some beers and his luggage and departed the plane via the emergency exit slide. Police arrested him later that day. In my book, the guy's a hero and instead of going to jail, they should throw him a parade.
  • What are the best cookbooks to have around? Try "The Joy of Cooking" or any of these books. I still have my 1976 edition Betty Crocker cookbook complete with dogeared pages and post its sticking out marking recipies.

8/9/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:

8/6/10-Here's what we talked about this morning: 8/5/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:
  • You may not be familiar with the name Morrie Yohai, but you most likely have sampled his greatest invention. Morrie, you see, invented cheese doodles in 1965. They can't be too unhealthy as Morrie lived until 90.
  • What's the most popular car among car thieves? The Cadillac Escalade, of course. The Chevy Silverado is second while the Dodge Charger is third. My car is so low on the list, thieves leave me notes on my windshield saying , "if you drive this car, you make less money than us! Good luck, pal!"
  • It's Project Days at Menard's. Our buddy Jason, the, manager of the Menard's in Manitowoc, dropped by to talk about the savings.
8/4/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:
  • Want some truffles in your salad but don't know where to get them? The Safeway Grocery store in Washington, DC has white truffles for sale. Make sure you bring a credit card with a big balance because they run $999.99 a pound. That's not a typo.
  • This year's Wiscons, in State Fair features more than cream puffs. The Machine Shed Restaurant of Pewaukee will be selling Krispy Kreme cheeseburgers at the fair which begins tomorrow. That's right, kids. It's a cheeseburger served on two Krispy Kreme doughnuts.
  • Sarah from the Sheboygan Surgery Center joined us this morning to tell us about the services they offer. Here's how to find out more.
