January, 2011

1/31/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

1/28/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

  • A man in New York has been arrested for stealing his own car. The car was lost at a police impound lot, but the man found it a couple blocks away and took it home. Police then popped him for stealing it back. The man is suing.
  • What actors and actresses may have had Oscar worthy performances but didn't get the nod from the nominating committee? Here is a list of the most obvious snubs.
  • A former star of the TV C.H.I.P.s may experience life on the other side of the law. Larry Wilcox was found guilty of securities fraud and will be sentenced today. He could get as many as five years in prison. And yet, Erik Estrada is allowed to roam free.
    • 1/27/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

1/26/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

      • The Chicago car salesman who was fired for wearing a Packers tie to work the day after the Pack beat the Bears in the NFC Championship game has been busy fielding job offers, some from rival dealerships. He says his previous employer has offered to reinstate him, but he's going to pass on that offer.
      • Welcome, Mr. President. What goes in to the Presidential Road Show coming to your town. Well, in Manitowoc, lots of things are going on behind the scenes. Hospitals are on alert and police will be rerouting traffic to accommodate the President's motorcade. Plans are very hush hush to minimize the chances of anything going wrong. The President is scheduled to touch down in Green Bay at 10:35, then make a noon speech at Orion. You can check out his schedule here.
      • Kevin from St. Nicholas Hospital told us about their new logo, which incorporates all thirteen of the hospitals in their system. You can see it here.

1/25/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

1/24/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

1/21/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

      • It's go big or go home Sunday and a pizzeria in the Chicago suburbs has gotten in the game. The "epic" is a 20-inch by 50-inch pizza made with 11 pounds of dough and four pounds of cheese which will feed 35-45 hungry football fans. They even spell out "Da Bears" in pepperoni. They will, at your request, make a Packers version as well.
      • The big game Sunday hasn't been lost on the leader of the fr, ee world. President Obama, a known Bears fan says if his team beats the Packers on Sunday, that he will attend the Super Bowl in Dallas. Packers fans hope the President will be watching the Super Bowl at the White House.

1/20/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

        • The Governors of Wisconsin and Indiana are willing to put their time where their mouths are. In a bet over Sunday's big game, the loser must work at a food pantry in the winning state while wearing the winning team's t-shirt and fly the winning team's flag in their office the day before the Super Bowl.
        • Looking to improve your sleep. Here are some tips.

1/19/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

Starbuck's is about to unleash the "Trenta", a 31 oz. cup used for their ice coffees. That's still wimpy compared to my 52oz. Bubba Keg.

        • What new fees are the airlines considering? Here is what some experts think.
        • Michelle, a registered dietitian from St. Nicholas Hospital told us about national healthy weight week and gave us some tips on to get to yours. For more info on some of the services they offer at St. Nicholas Hospital, click here.

1/18/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

1/17/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

1/16/11-Wow, it's the Packers in the big game next Sunday. I think my head is about to explode.

1/14/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

        • Astrologists our zodiac signs have been wrong for centuries. Th, e moon's gravitational pull has moved the Ea, rth off its axis, throwing the whole constellation off by one month. Therefore, I'm not a Libra anymore, I'm a Virgo. To find out what you might be, click here.
        • Who is the most popular star on TV? A recent survey gives the honor to Mark Harmon from NCIS. Also on the list, Oprah, Hugh Laurie (House) Conan and Charlie Sheen. Personally, I'd vote for Emily Deschanel with Jeffery Donovan a close second.
        • Do you eat frozen pizza? Of course you do. Here's a list of the better ones out there, with apolgizes to Jack's Rising Crust and Red Barron.

1/13/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

        • A Packer fan who lives in Philly made the mistake of driving his car to the Packers-Eagles playoff game last Sunday. He was spotted by some Eagle fans and while he was inside enjoying the Packers victory, they trashed his car, doing over $2,100 in damage. Ramsey's rule of fandom #7: When venturing into enemy territory either take public transportation or go in a vehicle owned and driven by a fan of the team you are rooting against.
        • Ted Williams, the homeless man who has been all over the media appeared on the Dr. Phil show and the Doc got him to admit he was still using drugs. Dr. Phil then sent him off to rehab. Is this guy's fifteen minutes up yet? I meant Dr. Phil's.

1/12/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

1/11/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

        • Star Jones and David Cassidy have joined the cast of the next edition of "Celebrity Apprentice." I don't think cherish will be a word that David Cassidy uses to describe Donald Trum, p.
        • What team sells the most NFL gear? The Pittsburgh Steelers, followed by Dallas and New Orleans. Top individual honors go to Pittsburgh's Troy Polamalu, the man with the golden curls. He's followed by Drew Brees of New Orleans and rookie Tim Tebow of Denver. With the regulars having been around for a while and no uniform changes in recent memory, you can forgive Packer fans for not being on the list.
        • If you are beginning to receive forms for your taxes, don't just stick them in a box. You may want to read them first. That's what Greg Anderson said this morning on "Money Talks Tips and Traps." If you missed it, check out the podcast and more right here.

1/10/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

1/7/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

        • If you saw th, e ads and purchased the product "Finally Fast" for your computer, you may be entitled to a refund. The Attorney General in Washington State has determined that the product was a rip off. If you really want to increase the speed of your computer, there are various products that will help you do it, some of which are already bundled with windows.
        • Thieves in Argentina spent months digging a tunnel from a building they rented to the bank next door and then robbed the bank. I can't remember the show, but I swear I saw this on TV once (I think it was the original Hawaii 5-0).
        • What TV channel can't you live without. A recent survey says it is the four TV networks and ESPN.

1/6/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

1/5/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

        • By virtue of the fact that I'm at work this morning, I did not win the $325 million Mega millions jackpot. But two people, one in Idaho and one in Washington did and will split the prize. Here's the difference between a person in their twenties and a person in their forties. A person in their twenties says "if I win, I'm going to keep my job and continue to lead a normal life." A person in their forties says "if I win, I'm st, uffing the money in a mattress and moving to Barbados and you will never hear from me again."
        • Your federal government does not like street signs written IN ALL CAPS. They are demanding that local governments replace them at their own expense. The feds say mixed case signs with larger letters are easier to read. Yes, but not at 45mph.
        • Dr. Anderson from Prevea joined us to remind the ladies to get your annual testing done. If you'd like to make an appointment with Dr. Anderson, here is her contact information.

1/4/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

        • Are you a n, erd or a geek? A geek is someone who is almost a know-it-all about something (i.e. Chris Logan is a Packers geek) and a nerd is someone who is a drip or a square. In either case, although we taunted those types in high school, we are now employed by most of them.
        • Planning your retirement? Here are some of the worst places to retire to. And yes, Wisconsin is ninth on the list because of our high taxes. Maybe someone will do something about that soon.
        • Today we start a new "Busine, ss on the Lake" segment. Greg Anderson will be joining us each Tuesday at 8:10am to talk about financial issues. If you missed it, you can catch the podcast here.

1/3/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

        • A man in Oklahoma was arrested for drunk driving, assaulting a deputy and a variety of other charges. The man was so drunk that he fell down in front of a judge. Did we mention he was also blind?
        • The Milwaukee Brewers are holding a contest for fans to design , a snack food to be served at Miller Park. Submit your ideas here.

1/1/11-Happy New Year. Both Valerie Bertinelli and Shania Twain were married this weekend. How much pain can one man take?
