9/27/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

  • Who payed over $35,000 to attend a Presidential fund raiser over the weekend? Why, Lady Gaga. She even got to ask the POTUS a question during a Q&A.
  • What happens when your husband is a prince and you are not of royalty? You get princess lessons, of course.
  • Greg Anderson talked about self-employment taxes on this m, orning's installment of "Money Talks Tips and Traps." Get this and all of Greg's sage advice, available via podcast.

9/26/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

9/23/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

  • Dunder Mifflin CEO Robert California (James Spader) has made his choice and Andy (Ed Helms) has been promoted to be the new manager at "The Office." What did , you think of the first Michael Scott-less office last night?
  • It's good to be king. McDonald's is suing a Mac and Cheese restaurant in Texas because they used "Mac" in their name. This is a case where the little guy has no chance at all. And if they do succeed in keeping their name, the story should be made into HBO Movie.
  • Chef John from the Courthouse Pub wants to thank you for making the Courthouse Pub's tenth anniversary party a huge success. In fact, that's his phrase for Monday morning at 8:10: "Thank-you." If you know that when we ask and you are the fifth caller you could win a $50 gift card from the Courthouse Pub and Lake 98.1

9/22/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

9/21/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

9/20/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

  • If tearing ketchup packets annoys you, take heart. Heinz is rolling out a "dip and, dunk" packet where you can rip the top off (old school) and squeeze or tear the side (new school) and dunk. The packets are being used in some food chains and Wendy's will be rolling th, em out soon.
  • The new TV series began last night and the question that everyone wanted answered was how did Chuck Lorre kill off ****** ******'s character Charlie Harper. Here's how (WARNING: contains spoilers)
  • Greg Anderson came by with "Money Talks Tips & Traps" Today, Greg talked about the tax strategy of selling property. You can listen to it or any of Greg's other great tips here.

9/19/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

  • We told you about this a couple of weeks ago, but they actually pulled it off. Chicago's , Berghoff Restaurant brok, e the world, 's record for the longest ever bratwurst at forty-seven feet. That's going to need a lot of mustard!
  • Last night, the new TV season kicked off with the Emmy awards. The biggest winners were Modern Family which won eight awards including best comedy, best supporting actress in a comedy (Julie Bowen) and best supporting actor in a comedy (Ty Burrell). My favorite moment was when Margo Martindale won the best supporting actress in a drama for her role as Mags Bennett in the FX drama, "Justified". That was one incredible performance. The only person I thought was robbed was John Hamm (Don Draper, Mad Men) who should have won the best actor in a drama. The award went to Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights.)
  • Ben and Adam from Anytime Fitness were here and talked about their incredible website which will supplement your efforts to get in shape.

9/18/11-Princess and I spent some time hanging out at the Courthouse Pub anniversary, cel, ebration. They had a great band, Fat Brass, an, d some awesome food. We're glad we could help Chef John celebrate.

9/15/11-Here, 's, what we talked about this morning:

9/14/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

9/13/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

9/12/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

  • A boy and his father's honesty has cost them a $50,000 prize. At a recent charity hockey game, one of two identical twins were called to make a shot from center ice. Unfortunately, the twin whose name was called was headed outside, so his dad told the other twin to take his brother's place. He did and nailed it, winning the $50,000 prize. But when father and son admitted the deception, the insurance company responsible for the payoff refused to pay off. They did, however, donate $20,000 to youth hockey.
  • A man in D'Iberville, Mississippi tried to shoplift two lobster tails, a pork loin and a couple bags of frozen shrimp from the local Winn-Dixie...in his pants. He was apprehended in the store's parking lot.
  • Our own version of Hans and Franz, Ben and Adam from Anytime Fitness, came by to remind you that wherever you are, whatever time it is, you can work out at Anytime Fitness.

9/11/11-Everybody has their own story about , wh, ere they were on 9/11/01, but mine is probably a little different than yours. I got to work at Citadel Broadcasting in Birmingham, AL about 8:30am and joined most of the employees of our radio stations in the break room, where there was a TV. Within two minutes, I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was my boss, who said "Prod 3, go!" For the next six and a half hours, while most of you watched the events of the day unfold on TV, I was editing audio and passing it up the line to the news department. And while I sort of knew what was going on, I really didn't have a comprehension until I came out around 3pm. We had five stations in our building and we were simulcasting all of them together. Later, my work was rewarded with an opportunity to host a talk segment from 7pm-midnight. I have to admit, it was one of the coolest days of my broadcast career.

It was a surreal day and while it was tragic, for those of us tasked with the responsibility of informing a shocked public and bringing them accurate and timely information, it wa, s an unforgettable day. We were right in the middle of it. And what I remember most of all, is how radio made sure that you had that information. That's what we do in a crisis.

9/9/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

  • A man walked into a liquor store in a Gumby costume. No, it's not a joke, it really happened. The man wanted to rob the store but the clerk thought it was a joke and ignored him. The man in the costume fumbled for a weapon, but didn't come up with one and left empty handed. Police vow to find the costumed robber and throw him in the pokey.
  • There's a lot of money in the NFL. The most valuable franchise is the Dallas Cowboys, worth about $1.85 billion dollars. The Packers are ninth on the list, worth $1.089 billion.
  • Chef John from the Courthouse Pub in Manitowoc joined us to remind us about their big anniversary party next Sunday. September 18th from noon-6.
  • Happy 5th birthday to ou, r happy go lucky Bichon Frise, Murphy A. Dogg. Have a good one, big boy!

9/8/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

9/7/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

9/6/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

  • Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Linebacker Clay Matthews are the two most popular jerseys for sale not only in Green Bay, but across the USA. The two Packers have leapfrogged Pittsburgh's Troy Polamalu as the most popular individual jerseys, but the Steelers still have the NFL team lead.
  • What's the manliest city in the USA? It's Nashville.
  • Greg Anderson joined us for "Money Talk, s Tips and Traps." Unlike some things, bad money decisions may actu, ally be able to be reversed. Listen to all of Greg's sage wisdom with the "Money Talks Tips & Traps" podcast available here.

9/2/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

  • A woman in South Carolina thought she was buying an IPad for $300 from some guys who were selling them out of the back of a truck. When she got home, she found what she had purchased was an IPlank, which is basically a piece of wood decorated to look like an I-Pad. Ooops.
  • Looking for a job? The Queen of England needs a new gardener at Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Her Royal Majesty posted the ad on Craig, slist. Haggis not included
  • Chef John from the Courthouse Pub has a terrific special for you tonight. Hope you heard it. The phrase you need to remember is "Mission Impossible." Know that phrase Tuesday morning at 8:10 and y, ou could win a $50 gift card from the Courthouse Pub and Lake 98.1 (The contest will be on Tuesday next week due to the Labor Day Holiday)

9/1/11-Here's what we talked about this morning:

  • A new British study indicates that chocolate may help fight heart disease. Praise the lord and pass me a Snickers.
  • "America's Got Talent" had a very special visitor last night. Susan Boyle gra, ced the contestants with a song and inspired them as she has inspired us.
  • Boy, talk about bad timing. President Obama wanted to speak before Congress September 7 to roll out his new jobs plan. But that's the night of the Republican debate and the Republicans can't make it. So,the President moved the speech back a day to September 8th. Which is opening night of the NFL season and features the Saints and Packers. So, now, the question becomes what does NBC do? Do they preempt football for the President or just offer it on MSNBC? NBC could also run the first half of the game on Versus, their sports channel. In any case, NBC is in a tight spot. An, d I'm sure the conspiracy theorists believe that the President, a Chicago Bears fan, is getting back at the Packers for winning the Super Bowl.
