9/30/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- Sad news from Las Vegas this morning as actor Tony Curtis has passed away at 85., He's probably best known for the movies "Some Like It Hot" with Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe and "The Defiant Ones" with Sidney Portier. My favorite Tony Curtis movie was "The Great Race."
- I get som, e of the dumbest fake e-mails ever. This must think I just fell off the turnip truck or something. Check these out!
9/29/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- Two weeks into the new TV season, we have our first causality. "Lone Star" has been killed by Fox after the first two episodes. Fox is running last in the ratings so far behind CBS, ABC and NBC.
- A second star has been shown the door on "Dancing With The Stars." Michael Boulton may be able to sing, but he apparently can't dance.

- The house built in Neenah on "Extreme Makeover, Home Edition" will air on October 17th. The family has been back in the house for several weeks, but details are secret.

9/26/10-Thanks to all the people who came out yesterday to support JDRF. We don't have the final numbers yet, but it was a great event and we were glad to participate.
9/24/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- A man in Spain avoided criminal charges when he accidentally ran over his ex-wife's boyf, riend. Police say it was not intentional and the two men actually had a good relationship. I would never harm my ex-wife's husband...I figure he's suffered enough.
- A man in England has broken the world's record for the fastest piece of furniture by taking a dinner table to 130 miles per hour. He's named it the "fast food." No, I didn't make that up.
- Beware the phone seller. Verizon sent some elderly citizens off with some complex phones and refuses to take them back just because the seniors are having problems using them. If these were my parents, I'd really be annoyed. My mom calls me whenever she messes up her cable settings. Seriously.

- On the same day it was released, Susan Boyle's Christmas CD is already number one at Amazon.com. You can't stop her, you can only hope to contain her.
- American Idol finally announced their new , judges yesterday, . To the surprise of no one, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler will join Randy Jackson on season 10. Personally, in my opin, ion, Idol without Simon is like Hell's Kitchen without Gordon Ramsay.
9/22/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- Some big time stars are lending their voices to a new Superman cartoon. James Denton, who plays Mike on "Desperate Housewives", will voice Superman. Christina Hendricks, the curvy Joan on "Mad Men", will take on the part of Lois Lane and Anthony LaPaglia from "Without a Trace" , will provide the voice of Lex Luthor.
- A man in Pennsylvania has cited a "Seinfeld" episode as a defense in an obscenity case. The man was cited after protesting a sewer tie-in with a sign that said "$10,000 to take a crap." The city fined him, saying "crap" was a profane word. The man filed a federal lawsuit against them, citing a 1993 episode of "Seinfeld" where the word "crap" was used four times in fifteen secon, ds. Township officials say the matter is under review, which is code for "Oh, crap, how are we going to save face on this one?"

- It what seems something out of a Monty Python skit, a man in England defeated a would be robber by using a can of air freshener.
- The man who was the inspiration for the name of the band Lynyrd Skynyrd has passed away. Leonard Skinner, a former Florida P.E. teacher in the 1960's, sent the band members to the principal's office while they were in high school because their hair was too long. The members were then suspended from school until they got haircuts. Leonard Skinner was 77.
9/20/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- If you have problems waking up in the morning, you might want to consider stopping by the "A Smack In The Face Bakery" in Ames, Iowa. Here, all your favorite treats are laced with 200mg of caffeine. , They hope to take their products national next year.
- Is it possible that the marital bed is on the way out? Nearly one in four couples sleep in separate beds and bedrooms and by 2016, many custom built homes could have two master bedrooms. I don't mind sleeping in the same bed with Princess, but I wouldn't mind getting a separate master bedroom for the dogs!

9/16/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- Billie Mae Richards has passed away. You may not have ever heard her name or seen what she looks like, but you know her voice. Sort of. In 1964, Billie Mae was hired to portray a character who went down in history: Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Billie Mae Richards was 88 years old.
- I don't usually get excited when someone is hired to do a guest arc on a TV show, but I'm making an exception here. Candice Bergen, who played the title character in "Murphy Brown" and Shirley Schmidt in "Boston Legal" has signed to do a guest arc as Dr. Cuddy's mother on "House." I am looking forward to Candice Bergen's character going toe to toe with Hugh Laurie's Dr. House. It will be awesome!

- A man in California attempted to rob a bank for $2,000. He said he needed the money to help pay his friend's rent. A loan officer convinced him what he really needed was a loan and while he was filling out the papers, she called the cops.
- We've told you about the $1,000 pizza and the $750 hamburger, now meet the $172 chees, e sandwich. Invented by a chef in England, the sandwich is composed of an $8 loaf of sourdough dressed with extra virgin olive oil and then layered cheese, slices of quail's egg, heirloom black tomato, epicure apple, fresh figs, dainty mustard red frills, pea shoots and red amaranth for a salad layer and edible gold dust.

- Police in Delaware continue to be on the lookout for Roger the Turtle who was either taken or escaped from a Newcastle pet store. Given the speed of turtles, how hard can this be?
- KFC wants to re-connect with Col. Sanders. Market research shows that the younger generation has no idea who the Colonel, who died in 1980, is. Among the plans, a yearlong publicity campaign to reintroduce Harland Sanders to younger consumers and to commemorate what would have been his 120th birthday. ,
9/13/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- Thinking about getting the kids some new jeans for Christmas? A world wide cotton shortage is going to drive up both the price of jeans and t-shirts. You might want to purchase now and hide them until December 25th.
- Deep sea salvage drivers have recently uncovered a 200 year-old case of beer. They plan on letting science analyze it to breakdown the ingredients. Personally, I think this gives a new meaning to the word "skunky."
- Susan Boyle had a bad experience on "America's Got Talent." She flew from England to LA only to find that producers couldn't secure permission for the song she was scheduled to perform. Since there wasn't time to prepare for a different song, a tearful Susan got back on a plane and flew home.
- What's the most popular team in the NFL? A Wall Street Journal survey says the Dallas Cowboys. The Packers are fifth, one place below the Chicago Bears, which is probably the only time the Packers will lose to the Bears this season.
- What do people do online? A Nielsen survey says the majority of people are involved in social networks, online gaming and checking their e-mail. The smallest percentage of people write bogs about their morning shows.
- BONUS WEB ONLY CONTENT: I went to the gas station yesterday and put my card in the reader. After about two minutes, a message flashed "Please see attendant." Well, I knew the card was good, so I we, nt in to see what was up. It turned out that the satellite which transmits the signal from the pump to home base was not working properly. I've never heard of that. If this has ever happened to you, please tell me about it. BTW, it's always a good idea to know how much it takes to fill up your tank. I guessed correctly, so pre-paying turned out to be a non-issue, although I'd much rather splash and d, ash.
9/9/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- Just in time for fall sweeps, Lindsey Lohan's people and Oprah's people have reached a deal which will land the actress in front of the TV Queen for an interview. Obviously, Lohan is at the point in her rehab where she is "making amends.", Tissue, Lindsey?
- Do you have a homeowners association? Do they make you have to check with them first if you want to put in a tree? Or put a fence in your backyard (ours doesn't allow them.) Well, then, here are some really wacky HOA rules.
- A restaurant in North Carolina has banned screaming children from their establishment. And their business has improved.
- On a personal note, I want to wish our Bichon Frise, Murphy A. Dogg, a happy fourth birthday. How could you not love a big, goofy dog like this?
9/8/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- If you think the economy is tough at your house, check out what this man in England did. In order to avoid his creditors, he lived in a shed with only a microwave and a TV. For a year. He's gone to debt counseling to try to get things straightened out.
- "Saturday Night Live" will return for a 36th season on September 25th. Kicking it off will be former SNL cast member Amy Poehler. She'll be joined by four new cast members. Will Forte and Jenny Slate, she of the famous F-bomb last year, will not return.
- September is "Prostate Cancer Awareness Month" and Mary from St. Nicholas Hospital joined us to remind men over fifty without a history of prostate problems to go get screened. St. Nick's is offering two screenings, on Friday and Monday. Call the Oncology department at 459-4745 for more details.
9/7/10-Here's what we talked about ths morning:
- A recent California study indicates many home kitchens would flunk a restaurant style health inspection. Over fourteen percent would flunk while about sixty percent would get an A or B. I think our kitchen would get a
"B". I'm a nut about sanitizing the counters and I know the flo, ors are clean because if I drop anything on it, my sous chef, Murphy A. Dogg is happy to clean it up for me. - Feel the need for speed? Better watch it through some of these speed trap communities.
- Who are some of the big earners on TV? If you said Hugh Laurie and Oprah, you are in the ballpark.
9/3/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- A man in Washington State was treated for an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound to his left buttock. He was on a hike and moved his gun from his holster to his back pocket to see if that would be more comfortable. Apparently, it was not.
- Jamie Oliver hosted a reality show last spring where he went to Huntington, West Virgina and tried to change the eating habits of students at the local high school. ABC has renewed "Food Revolution" for a second go round, this time in LA. It will air next spring.,
- I never thought that watching two people over eighty having a conversation on TV would interest me, but you can bet that I'll be checking out Betty White's upcoming appearance on "Inside the Actor's Studio." It should air sometime near the end of this month. I can't wait for James Lipton to ask her what her favorite swear word is.

- Conan O'Brien has announced the name of his new show on TBS. He's calling i, t "Conan" Did you think he was going to call it "Jay?" Conan's new show debuts November 8 at 10pm on TBS.
- You know the economy is in trouble when small towns enforce garage sale permit rules. If you don't get a permit for a garage sale in Logansport, IN, you can be fined up to $10. And if you put your signs in an unauthorized place, that could set you back $300

9/1/10-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- Ah, marketing. The science of spelling product names funny just to sell you something. Check out these food products s, pelled wrong on purpose.
- The summer TV season is concluding with many series either ending or down to their last one or two episodes. The big winner this summer is,TNT with "Rizzoli and Isles" leading the way. Also having good summers are "Jersey Shore" and "True Blood." Many of the USA shows have struggled this summer including "White Collar" "Psych" and my favorite summer show "Burn Notice." USA has had a a breakout hit with "Covert Affairs."
- Susie from St. Nicholas Hospital told us that their 29 foot motor home, "The Health Express" will be at the Sheboygan County Fair all weekend screening blood pressure and blood sugar. They will also be selling bicycle helmets.
