1/31/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- It happens every election cycle. A candidate, usually a conservative, uses a popular song as a campaign theme and the person who holds the copyright the song gets upset, primarily because they are of an opposing viewpo, int politically. Last year, it was Michelle Bachmann getting sued by Tom Petty over using "An American Girl." This year, Newt Gingrich is being sued for using "Eye of the Tiger."
- Just when you thought the economy had stabilized, beef prices are about to take off into orbit. This effects prices not only at the supermarket, but restaurants too.

1/30/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- It was a big night at the SAG awards last night for "The Help". And no, I don't mean the people working backstage.
- A guy named , "The Spantasy" has posted a video at You Tube which is a tribute to former Brewer Prince Fielder set to the tune of Adele's "Somebody Like You." If you haven't seen or heard "A Slugger Like You", here it is:
- Ben and Adam from Anytime Fitness told us this morning that the culture of a fitness club means everything.
1/27/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- If you think the food police had fun with Paula Deen last week, wait until they find out about this, . Breakfast at Taco Bell.
- The Super Bowl is nine days away and even though the Packers aren't in it, you still want to watch to watch the game just to see what commercials are introduced. Some of the greatest ads in the history of television have been introduced at the Super Bowl. Here's one person's top ten list? If you have a favorite, e-mail it to me.
- Former Cheers star Bebe Neuwirth has signed on for an arc on "The Good Wife." She of course played the uptight Dr. Lilith Crane on Cheers and went on to perform on Broadway in "Chicago".
1/26/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- A woman in Alaska got her husband out of some hot water when she confronted a moose that was at, tacking him. The 85 year-old took a shovel and whacked the moose a few times before the moose ran off scared.
- Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak admits he and his co-host Vanna White have done a few episodes of "Wheel" drunk. Years ago between tapings, Sajak and White would often dine at a Mexican restaurant near the studio and enjoy several margaritas. That made coming back to the studio and resuming their taping "interesting."
- Paul, the Manager of Menards in Manitowoc, joined us to tell us about some great deals they have during their "Made in the USA" sale.
- Chef Grayson Schmitz of New Holstein survived yet another round of "Top Chef" last night, although the same can't be said for her partner, Chris.
1/25/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- The city of Ft. Worth Texas is considering changing their noise ordinance to include a stipulation that if a dog barks over 10 minutes, the owner can be subject to a fine. That's one reason I can't live in Ft. Worth.
- A man in Fond Du Lac was picked up after a domestic disturbance. When asked how his wife got a black eye, he claimed it was ghosts.
- We did an encore presentation of our talk from last week with Tanya from St. Nicholas Hospital because Lifeline is such an important topic.&nbs, p; If you have elderly parents who still live in their own home, please find out more here.
1/24/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- A man in Florida got into it with the owner of a bar, so he tried to ram the bar with his car. The owner fired a shot over his head which m, ade the man even more determined to run the bar owner over. Fortunately, no one was injured.
- Is teaching cursive handwriting still something teachers should worry about? With the amount of texting and typing, cursive seems so 70's.
- Greg Anderson came by for "Money Talks Tips and Traps." This morning, Greg reminds you that being charitable is a good thing, just make sure you can prove it to the IRS. Get all of Greg's sage advice here.
1/23/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- If you plan on robbing a bank, you should not use a car with vanity plates on it. They are easy to spot, making it even easier to get caught.
- PC run amok? A middle school in Utah will not have their sports teams nicknamed the Cougars, because the school board and some hyper sensitive parents deemed the name might be offensive. Besides being a very quick jungle cat, a cougar can also refer to an older woman who seduces younger men. I'm sure that's what the kids had in mind when they voted for the name. The teams will be called the , Chargers instead. Please stop the planet, I want to get off.
- How important is the culture at your health club? Pretty darn important, as Ben and Adam from Anytime Fitness explained this morning.
1/20/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- A woman took her grandson and other family members to a Chuck E. Cheese in Dearborn, Michigan to celebrate the boy's seventh birthday. In a scene right out of Southland, the woman asked a table next to them to tone down their language. The customers seated at that table attacked the woman, punching her in the face and dragging her by the hair. The good news is Chuck E. Cheese refunded her money.
- A pub in England doesn't want you leave your four legged friend out when you come to visit. The Pub is now selling a beer designed for dogs so that they can enjoy a night out with you. Just don't let the dog be the designated driver.<, /LI>
- What does your check engine light really mean? In most cases, it means either your gas cap isn't secure or that your air filter is really dirty. Some people would like automakers to eliminate that light in favor of something a little more obvious.
1/19/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- Two men in Waukesha were so upset that the Packers lost to the Giants Sunday that they set their couch on fire. Now, they are up on charges of being careless with matches. Stay classy, Packers fans.
- Celebrity cook (she's not a Chef) Paula Deen joined ABC's "The Chew" yesterday to talk about her diabetes. Paula admitted her style of cooking isn, 't necessarily something you should eat every day. She also admitted her new deal as a spokesperson for a drug company which makes a diabetes drug is a compensated position, but, she feels she can use her celebrity to help others get diagnosed.
- Speaking of Chefs, Chef Grayson Schmitz of New Holstein lives to cook another day on "Top Chef Texas." Last night, she made a funky chicken dish where she kept the chicken's claws attached.
1/18/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- Today is the day of the big Internet blackout in protest of two pieces of legislation known as SOPA and PIPA. Several of your favorite sights will be blackout out today, including Wikipedia. Find out more about what this is all about here.

- A man in Ontario, Canada turned his water on and then suddenly died. He wasn't discov, e, red dead for three weeks and now the Ontario town where he lives wants $500 for the water bill he left. His relatives are fighting it.
- Celebrities give their kids some strange names. Mariah Carey named her new baby Moroccan while Beyonce named her child "Blue Ivy." Here are some more wacky celebrity child names.

- What are some of the wackiest things drivers, do while driving their cars? In Florida, the list includes shaving, reading a newspaper and a guy tying his shoes.
- Last night at the Golden Globes,there was a lot of hardware distributed. The Globes are often an accurate predictor of the Academy Awards in the spring.
- Ben and Adam from Anytime Fitness came by to give you some tips on how to get to the weight you want to get to without getting frustrated.
1/13/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- It's Friday the 13th. Be careful out there.
- Yesterday may have been slightly annoying for you with four inches of snow, but how would y, ou like to live in Cordova, Alaska? There they got 15 feet of snow and have another storm on the way.
- A TV Chef in England was arrested for shoplifting from a local supermarket. That's the British equivalent of Michael Symon and Bobby Flay knocking over a liquor store.
- Today is the final episode of "One Life To Live" on ABC as the long running soap has been canceled by the network. But fear not OLTL fans, not all of the characters are remaining in Lanview.

- With snowmegeddon on the way, it's always best to check how the roads , are going if you are traveling. Wisconsin has revamped its' 511 system to make it easier for you. You can also get the info online at www.511wi.gov
- Katy Perry was the big musical winner at the People's Choice Awards last night. Other winners of note included "How I Met Your Mother", "Hot In Cleveland", "Castle" and "Pretty Little Liars."
- Last night on "Top Chef Texas", New Holstein native Grayson Schmitz continues on after her team won a restaurant challenge. The judges, including my culinary idol Emeril, sent home Ty-Lor Boring.
1/11/12-here's what we talked about this morning:
- A man in France accidentally dropped his wallet in a sewer and, in an effort to retrieve it, got his head stuck in it. This lasted all night until somebody pried him out the next morning. , To add insult to injury, prior to the wallet incident, he was sending waste oil down the sewer, which is a crime in France. Being a good Frenchman, he immediately surrendered.
- Beezow Doo-Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop is in a Madison jail after being arrested for pot possession and having a knife. His birth name was Jeffrey Drew Wilschke, but he had it changed legally. That explains the marijuana possession.
- Xue from St. Nicholas Hospital joined us to tell us about all the educational and healthy events coming up at St. Nicholas hospital during the first quarter of 2012. You can see them all atSt. Nicholas Hospital's website.
1/10/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- A couple of not so smart crooks stole some beer from a liquor st, ore, then returned a half hour later, drunk, demanding the surveillance video. They were, as the saying goes, immediately arrested.

- A thief received a reduced sentence because he was so polite during the robbery.

1/5/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- There have been a lot of TV shows and movies about life in a morgue. "Nightshift", "Crossing Jordan" and "Body of Proof" are just a few. And what seems like it is out of a TV show (perhaps "Castle" or "Psych"), two Russian morgue workers have been caught storing caviar in the morgue right next to the...um...customers. The men say it is a private stash, for a party, but police are checking it out any, way.
- Have you heard this unbelievable conspiracy theory about a secret government time travel organization and how 19 year-old Barack Obama teleported to Mars? Seriously, this is not something on Fox News. In any case, the White House denies the President has ever made such a trip.
- Last night on Top Chef Texas, New Holstein's Grayson Schmitz didn't do too well in the quickfire challenge, but was on the winning team and scored $15,000. She'll be cooking next week, unlike Malibu Chris was was booted last night.
1/4/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- A man in Houston recently paid a parking ticket...from 1953. He found the ticket while going through some memorabilia. He got the tick, et in 1953 when he went into the Army and his father was late picking up his truck. The city was so pleased the man came forward they waived all the penalties and interest.
- A teenager fell asleep on a flight to Tulsa and wound up in St. Louis when he slept through his stop. He had no money, no cell phone and no one to help him. His mother is understandably furious and of course, is blaming the airline.

- A 99 year-old Italian man is d, emanding a divorce from his 96 year-old wife of 77 years after he recently discovered her love letters to another man from an affair that she had in the 50's. The wife is not contesting the divorce. I guess there is no statute of , limitations on fooling around.
- A group of thieves successfully made off with an ATM in Laguna Woods, CA. Police found it on a flatbed truck later, but there's no trace of who took it and the cash that was in the machine. A BOLO has been issued for George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Scott Caan, Matt Damon, Don Cheadle and Carl Reiner.

- If you plan on spending time in Illinois this year, you'll either have to pay more or purchase an I-Pass box for your car. Or, get really creative. Without a box, that first toll booth north of Gurnee will cost you almost $3. Ouch.
