2/29/12-Happy Leap Day! Here's what we talked about this morning:
- A manager at a K-Mart held off an armed robber long enough for the police to arrive and haul the guy off. The manager was even shot by the robber as they wrestled for the robber's gun, but the manager finally got control of it and held the robber until the police could get there. The manager is in critical condition at the hospital. Chances are he'll lose his job just because that's usually what happens when someone at a big box store does something heroic.
- What are the happiest places to live in the US? According to the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index, Hawaii is the happiest, based on six measures. Wisconsin is the 22nd happiest place in the US. Surprisingly, bringing up the rear is Nevada.

2/28/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- A homeless man jumped in a car parked near a school and attempted to drive off in it. What he didn't realize is the car belonged to the secret service who were waiting to pick up the President's children from school. Ooops. Lucky for him, he's no longer homeless and probably won;t be for several years.
- Last night on "The Voice" the four coaches endured the final round of blind auditions as they finished picking their teams.
- Greg Anderson joined us with "Money Talks Tips and Traps." Greg reminded us when you get married or divorced does have some affect on your taxes. You can hear today's segment or any other of Greg's helpful tips right here.
2/27/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- In addition to last night's Oscars, the winner's for the annual "Razzie" awards were announced. The Razzies are the anti-Oscars, celebrating the year's worst films. The big winner? Adam Sandler for "Jack & Jill"
- Meanwhile, at the Oscars. it was a big night for "The Artist." I am also convinced that Meryl Streep would win an Oscar if all she did in a movie was read from a phone book. Here's the list of winners.
- Adam and Ben joined us from Anytime Fitness today and they want to tan your hide. That is, if you purchase a membership on March 6th, they'll throw in three months of free tanning.
2/24/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- One of the highlights of participating in the Oscars is the Governor's Ball following the awards. There, you chow down on incredible food crafted by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck. This year, the chef has created 3D desserts, which actually require you to wear the 3D glasses that you would wear at the movies.
- There is no end to the way potential employers evaluate you. First, they analyzed your credit scores. Now, they have developed criteria to judge your Facebook page and project your success. Whatever happened to working hard, being good at what you do and a solid track record?
2/23/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- A man in New York has sued Frito Lay claiming that the chips he was sold were not "all natural" as claimed on the package. In doing some research, he found that the chips were made from genetically grown plants, which doesn't fit the all-natural description. Frito Lays says the products comply with all federal laws.
- What is the most popular state in the country according to a recent survey conducted by public policy polling? To the shock of no one, it's Hawaii. Colorado was second and Tennessee was third. The bottom five? Utah, Mississippi, New Jersey, Illinois and California. Wisconsin finished 16th.
- Paul from Menards in Manitowoc joined us to tell us about how everything in their store is rebated through Sunday.
- Paul from the Vacuum and Sewing Center in Manitowoc explained why a good quality vacuum cleaner is a much better investment than a cheap one from a big box store.
2/22/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- Last night, the Brit Awards (British version of the Grammys) were held in London. Adele, who won a boatload more awards last night got cutoff while accepting her "album of the year award." So, she flipped off the camera to show the suits who were running the show she wasn't happy. It probably won't be a big deal over here because it happened on British TV.
- How long does it take food to go bad in your fridge? You might be surprised!
- What happens after you have a heart attack? Can you work out? Eat certain foods? Have marital relations? Dan Doran, from the Cardiac Care Unit at St. Nicholas Hospital, told us what patients go through after a cardiac event.
2/21/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- What's the top consumer complaint in Wisconsin? Those annoying phone calls you get in the middle of dinner.
- Last night on "The Voice" there was some great talent including a Chicago guy who worked at a sandwich shop.
- Greg Anderson joined us for "Money Talks Tips and Traps." A lot of people have received unemployment benefits last year and Greg gave us some tips on how to make sure you don't get burned on your taxes. Hear all of Greg's sage wisdom here.
2/20/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- Police in Pennsylvania have arrested a man for shoplifting a pair of socks. He was easy to find as he was tooling around the store naked. When police arrived, he was uncooperative, so he was tased. Now, I don't know about you, but the thought of being tased naked scares me. No word as to what he covered up with the socks.
- There was a little bit of TV history that took place last night. The Simpsons had their 500th show. In it, they were kicked out of Springfield. As an added bonus, here's every chalkboard saying that they've used during their run.

2/17/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- Here's a feel good story for you to end your week. The last FEMA trailer has left New Orleans, six years after Hurricane Katrina. That means everyone who was going to have their house rebuilt has it rebuilt.
- The food police are back at it. A scientist in California thinks sugar should be treated like cigarettes and not sold to minors.
2/16/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- A British Columbia couple was asleep in their bed when a car crashed into their bedroom and into their bed. The couple was not hurt. The driver of the car tried to flee on foot, but was apprehended a short time later. Here's the shocker: He may have been drinking.
- If you have a child in high school, preparing them for the future is important. Here is a list of the jobs that will be hot in 2020. Please note radio personality is not among them.

2/15/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- A Pennsylvania man who married a Packer fan was named to the Packers Hall of Fame. He has three rooms of Packer memorabilia and attends games regularly, even though he lives 700 miles from Lambeau Field.
- The food police really does exist. A per-schooler had her lunch confiscated and was served chicken nuggets after a state worker decided her bag lunch wasn't healthy enough.

2/14/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- A man in England is in trouble for cooking a hamster at a party at his home. I don't know if he's up on criminal charges or was arrested by the food police.
- I don't usually watch "The Voice", but I turned it on for the wife last night when I was about to go to bed around 8pm (yes, I go to sleep that early.) Anyway, as I was heading toward the bedroom, I heard a very unique voice that really captivated me. Her name is Erin Martin and she is really something.

2/13/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- Today we honor the musical legacy of Whitney Houston. Her music moved us all and we'll be sharing it with you all morning long.
- The Grammys were held last night and the big winner was Adele. She also per formed in public for the first time since her November throat surgery and sounded great, although her rebuilt voice seemed to lack a little of that "smoky" quality.

2/10/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- Whomever is the POTUS in 2013 will be forced from office. Before the Secret Service starts investigating me, let me point out that due to renovations, the President will have to take up temporary office space in the old executive office building. Almost the entire West Wing will be renovated next year. Toby and Josh will be working at home.
2/9/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- Whether you love them or they annoy you, the greeter has always been a part of Walmart. Now, the company says, it is changing the role of the greeter to be inside the store, not at the front entrance. Why do I like Walmart greeters? It always reminded me I need to call my parents.
- After eight seasons, "House" will be hanging up his stethoscope. The show will conclude it's run in May. With any luck, Cuddy, 13 and Cameron will all return on last time.
- Paul from the Vacuum and Sewing Center in Manitowoc joined us to talk about a great gift this Valentine's day: A sewing machine from Janome. They are great for quilting!
2/8/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- A woman in North Carolina was tasered by policeafter cutting into a McDonald's drive through line and then refusing to leave. You want fried with that?
- Lake 98.1's Delilah is working with Feed The Children to raise enough money for food and essentials for 50,000 American children. You can find out more or contribute to the cause here.
- Gerry from Orange Cross Ambulance joined us as part of St. Nicholas Hospital's heart month. Gerry says if you think you are having a heart attack, call help immediately. And whatever you do, don't be a hero by trying to drive yourself to the hospital.
2/7/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- Aaron Rodgers of the Packers is the most marketable NFL player according to Sports Business Magazine. He beat out Peyton Manning, Tom Brady and Tim Tebow for the honor.
- Critics are accusing Clint Eastwood of doing a commercial for the democrats during the Super Bowl Sunday. Clint says not so. He was just trying to get all Americans motivated to help aid in the recovery.
- Greg Anderson joined us with "Money Talks Tips and Traps." Greg says that investing can be tricky and a disaster on your taxes if you don't do it right. Hear all of Greg's sage wisdom here.
2/6/12-Here's what we talked about last night:
- It was a fun Big Game Sunday with the game coming down to the very end. Congrats to New York for their win and toNBC for excellent game coverage. It doesn't get much better than Al Michaels behind the mike.
- The Big Game commercials were okay but not spectacular yesterday (IMHO). This one was my favorite:
- Adam and Ben from Anytime Fitness joined us this morning to expl, ain what a wellness social is.
- In case you were wondering which of the recipies from our "Big Game Grub" page we served at our house, it was this one. It was awesome, too. The only problem was that I was serving it at halftime and that's when Princess decided to pay attention to the TV because Madonna was on. Oh, bother.
2/3/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
- It's almost time for the Big Game. Why do we call it the Big Game and not what they call it on TV? Because in any kind of commercial or promotional material (like this blog) we have to say "Big Game" because if we said the other, we'd get a nastygram from the NFL for violating their trademarks. Seriously.

- A Star Trek fan in England took great pains to reconstruct the bridge of Star Trek Voyager (without Jeri Ryan) in his living room. The project took him ten years and $150,000. Howe, ver, the apartment is in the name of his ex-wife who wants to sell it. Beam me out of he, re, Mr Tuvoc!
- It's the end of the line for New Holstein's Grayson Schmitz on Top Chef Texas. She was eliminated last night when her large, skinless chicken breasts failed to wow the judges.
