May 2012

5/31/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
5/30/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
  • A man in Ohio was shorted a taco in his order at a local Taco Bell.  After screaming at the people inside the restaurant, he was given a taco, but decided that wasn't enough.  So, he rammed his truck into the building.  Police followed the fluids from his truck to his house and arrested him.  Now, he'll probably be sent somewhere where it will not be advisable to drop the chalupa.
  • President Obama handed out the hardware yesterday, bestowing the Medal of Freedom on former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, astronaut John Glenn, basketball coach Pat Summitt and rock legend Bob Dylan.
  • Joyce from St, Nicholas Hospital joined us to talk about "National Cancer Survivors Day", a celebration hosted by the hospital on June 6th.  Here's some more information.
5/29/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
  • The Guinness Book of World Records has proclaimed "Le Burger Extravagant" at new York's Serendipity as the world's most expensive hamburger.  It costs $295, but the proceeds will be donated to charity. To find out what you get for your money, check out the description here.
  • What cars will you not see on new car lots in 2013?  There are many including all Saab models (they are out of business after being purchased by GM), the Mitsubishi Eclipse, the Chevy Avalanche and the Kia Sedona.  Here's the complete list.
  • Greg Anderson joined us with "Money Talks, Tips and Traps."  Today, Greg talked about RMDs.  Don't worry, Greg doesn't have his hands on the nuclear code book.  Check out the MTTT archive to listen to what Greg is talking about.
5/28/12-I'd like to give it up for my Dad, Ace, who served his country in England, France and Germany during WWII as a medic. For all of those who have served to protect our freedom and for all of those who we have lost, we say "thanks." Today between the cookouts and the time you may have off, remember these brave men and women who were asked to do their duty and did so all of us can live free.
5/25/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
  • Looks like Scotty's going to get beamed up after all.  Some of the cremated remains of the late actor James Doohan, who played engineer Montgomery Scott on the original Star Trek series will be blasting off into space.  A private company, which will be docking with the space shuttle, will transport the ashes.  Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry's ashes were also taken into space on a space shuttle mission.
  • In the next James Bond movie, if 007 orders a drink, it better not be shaken or stirred.  That's because due to a product placement deal, Bond will be drinking Heineken instead of his traditional martini.
  • Chef John from the Courthouse Pub in Manitowoc wants to remind you that the Farmer's Market in Manitowoc has reopened for the season and to support your local growers.
5/24/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
5/23/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
  • Here's my rant for this morning.  I read this article about Paula Deen yesterday. It mentioned that Paula has lost 30 pounds and would that repair her image calling her "the unhealthy chef (she's not a chef by the way)who gave Americans diabetes and obesity.  But here's what ticks me off.  Paula Deen did not come to your house with her sons Bobby and Jamie who pinned you to the floor while Paula Deen stuffed fried chicken and biscuits and gravy down your throat.  People make choices.  Stop blaming other people for people making poor choices.  You'll make it a better world if you do.
  • Congratulations to Donald Driver, the new champion of "Dancing With the Stars."
  • Dr. Kirk Demetris from St. Nicholas Hospital and Prevea joined us this morning to talk about his free talk tomorrow about ending your knee pain.  Find out more about it here.
5/22/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
5/21/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
  • Tonight is the final episode of the TV show "House." After eight years on FOX, the drama about a cranky doctor who says and does whatever he wants is coming to an end.  A retrospective will be aired at 7pm prior to the 8pm final episode.
  • Robin Gibb has lost his battle with cancer at 62.  The former Bee-Gee had been rumored near death over the last several months.  He's the third of the Gibb brothers to pass away following Andy and Maurice.  Older brother Barry is the now the lone survivor of the group.
  • Adam and John joined us from Anytime Fitness with some great ways to spring into summer.
5/18/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:

5/15/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
5/14/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
  • So, you think you would eat just about anything?  Then enjoy this Foodies list of 100 things you should try before you die.  At number one on the list is Python.
  • With their "up fronts" scheduled this week for advertisers, the TV networks finally got around to announcing which shows would not be coming back next year.  Included on that list are "CSI Miami" and "Unforgettable" from CBS; "The River" and "Missing" from ABC; "The Finder" and "Alcatraz" from Fox and "Harry's Law" from NBC.  If you'd like to know what criteria they use, it's pretty simple.  Although Harry's Law is the second most watched show on NBC, it does not do well in the 18-49 demographic which advertisers crave.  Therefore, if you are over 49, you are of no use to TV networks or ad agencies.  In fact, Harry's Law addressed this last night when, during the cold open, lead character Harry Korn (played by Kathy Bates) said "getting old sucks.  I miss the days when i was between the ages of 18 and 49."
  • Adam and John joined us from Anytime Fitness to talk about how they can help your company save money on health insurance by getting your employees involved in a fitness program.
5/11/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
  • Think you are too drunk to drive?  There's an app for that.
  • Last night on "American Idol", everyone who is the final three take a step forward.  Not so fast Hollie.
  • Chef John from the Courthouse Pub dropped by to remind you that with the spring weather, you can enjoy outdoor dining at the pub.  It's even pet friendly. If you'd like to receive specials and text messages on your phone from the pub, simply text THEJUDGE at 765432.
5/10/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
5/9/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
5/8/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
  • A man in Florida was pulled over for speeding and flashed a badge at officers.  When they asked to see it again he refused.  And, he refused to leave his vehicle.  It turns out the badge was a fake.
  • Last night on "Dancing With The Stars" Packers Receiver Donald Driver scored 55 out of 60, which put him in second place for the evening, tied with Katherine Jenkins (who?).  Tonight brings double elimination.
  • Greg Anderson dropped by with "Money Talks Tips & Traps.  Today, Greg talked about "the evil AMT." Catch all of Greg's wisdom here.
5/7/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
5/6/12-Yesterday, my daughter Jordan graduated college.  She earned a double major from St. Mary of the Woods College in Terre Haute, IN.  Congrats kid, the old man is proud of you.

5/4/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
  • A man in Utica New York tried to rob three banks unsuccessfully.  His weapon of choice?  A bathroom plunger.
  • Last night on "American Idol", Skyler Lane was kicked to the curb.
  • Chef John joined us from the Courthouse Pub in Manitowoc sharing tons of important news about their big fund raiser Sunday night as well as an invitation for Fido to join you at the pub.  Find out more here.
5/3/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
5/2/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
  • Summerfest officials announced that Kelly Clarkson and Train will be the headliners on one of the fest's weekend nights.  Tickets are available on May 12.
  • Packers wide receiver Donald Driver doesn't have to worry about keeping up with Urkle anymore.  That's because actor Jaleel White was kicked to the curb last night.  Double D needs to bring his "A" game next week because next Tuesday there will be a double elimination.
  •  Mary from St. Nicholas Hospital joined us to discuss "National Stroke Awareness Month."  If you think someone is even remotely having a stroke, get help immediately.  Find out more here.
5/1/12-Here's what we talked about this morning:
  • The other day I got a text message informing me that I won a $1,000 gift card from Walmart and to claim it, I had to go to this link.  As much as I would have loved to win one, I knew it was not true.  If you do click on a link like that, you go through a maze of pages where you have to purchase one or two services and give up a lot of personal information.  Here's the bottom line: Be careful who you give your info to on the Internet.  The way these people get around the no call list is to have you sign up for something, therefore constituting a "relationship" between you, them and all of their umbrella companies.  Also, have several e-mail addresses, so their junk stays away from your important e-mail.
  • Last night on "Dancing With the Stars", Donald Driver still didn't get a ten from Len, but he did get a 27.  It was good enough to put him in the middle of the pack, but not enough to be ahead of Urkle. Donald, you are being beaten by Urkle!
  • Greg Anderson dropped for "Money Talks, Tips & Traps."  Today, Greg talked about wasted tax credits.  You can hear this segment or any of our other segments right here.
